Theatre Brochures: Single Image and Slogan
Theatre companies and operas have similar advantages and challenges when designing their season brochure covers. They often have the benefit of wonderful, evocative photography, but must convey to readers the idea that the brochure represents a season of separate productions. When the season is held together by a coherent theme the brochure designs itself, but more often the marketing team must figure out how to catch the reader's attention without sowing confusion. Some designers go the safe route by creating a multi-show collage. That's not our subject today. In this edition of Arty Face, we'll look at a few brochures that took the risk of using an image from a single show to represent the entire season. The trick is to match the image to the season's theme.
